I tried to install drivers on the R2 server, but it does not have the same wonderful printer manager function of 2003, where you can simply add drivers to the server. I asked him to make an image of the Thin Client and send it to me. His first comment was that it works in his lab. I'm ready to call my contract administrators and find out why. HP support got to level II, then I never heard from them again.

The Windows 7 PC's need no drivers to be installed on R2, yet the HP Thin Client can not do the same. Then I exported the printers from that Printer Server, and imported them to R2.
Loaded Print Manger and added the other older printer Server to be manged. This continues in the logs for every printer that would have/ should have connected. Reading the server logs, error 111 appears, saying that it doesn't know what a HP laser-jet 4200 printer is. When the HP Thin Client connects, not one printer redirects. R2 redirected printers that never were redirected before, such as Dymo label printers.

Previous versions of Windows server required drivers to be loaded, and for driver files names to match for any redirection to work.
The Windows 7 PC's connect to R2 and magically redirect every printer, no matter what it is, up to the server.

HP support had me update to RDP 7, same version that is running on our Window 7 PC's. The HP Thin Clients run Windows Xp embedded. It is the 2008 R2 that became a problem for redirected printers from t he HP Thin Clients. The Windows 2008server actually works well too. This image also requires that the Thin Client model be configured with a minimum of 512 MB of RAM.We have had no problems with Windows Enterprise 2003 Server and RDP from the HP 5730, and 5740 clients until now.
